Amber Robertson, Department Coordinator
College of Business – Finance
Awarded Monday, July 13 at Friendship Walk. Amber Robertson was joined by President Loren J. Blanchard, College of Business Associate Deans Sabine Reddy and Jasmine Yur-Austin, numerous campus colleagues, and her family.
As Department Coordinator for the Department of Finance, Amber Robertson is known for her reliability, collaborative spirit, and dedication to ensuring the success of the College of Business (COB) and the university community.
Throughout the past year, Amber has played an integral role in coordinating major campus and college initiatives, including the Finance Department Symposium, Day at the Beach, the Finance Department Advisory Board Meeting, and Commencement activities. She also served as Interim Executive Assistant to the Dean for six months while continuing to fulfill her responsibilities as Department Coordinator, demonstrating remarkable leadership, adaptability, and commitment.
Colleagues consistently praise Amber for going above and beyond in service to others. Lu Zhu, Chair of the Department of Finance, wrote, “Amber Robertson has exhibited exceptional service, professionalism, and performance through her consistent reliability, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to supporting the Department of Finance and the broader CSULB community.” Zhu also noted that Amber “does not simply fulfill the minimum expectations of her role; she takes ownership of the work and remains engaged until everything is completed successfully... She represents the university with integrity and care, and her contributions have a positive impact on faculty, staff, students, and community partners.”
Nupur Shah, COB Head of Instructional Technology praised Amber for being “a trusted resource among all ASCs, who frequently seek her guidance, adopt her templates, and benefit from her innovative problem-solving approaches. Her collaborative spirit is evident in her ongoing contributions to the Dean's Office and IT, where she regularly shares insightful suggestions to streamline workflows and improve processes. Her forward-thinking mindset and commitment to operational efficiency have had a tangible, positive effect on both staff and faculty across the college.”
Brian Gonzalez, Academic Operations Specialist, emphasized Amber's willingness to support others, stating, “She has gone out of her way to cover for multiple roles and assist new employees with training. Anytime someone needs help, she will offer to assist and help. We appreciate her hard work and being a positive example at COB."
Natalia Mora, Fiscal Operations Analyst, recognized the positive impact Amber has on those around her: "Amber's positive presence, reliability, and commitment to supporting others contribute greatly to an inclusive and supportive work environment."
Amber’s behind-the-scenes leadership and genuine care for the campus community have made a lasting impact on colleagues, faculty, students, and university partners alike.
Amber earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a concentration of Law, Politics, and Public Policy at CSULB.
She began her career at CSULB in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) before joining the College of Business. Amber describes working in a college department as a rewarding experience where she can create a welcoming environment and play a supportive role to students, faculty, and staff.
In her free time, she enjoys going to the movies with her family, trying new restaurants, and taking her dachshund, Knox, to the park. She would also like to take the opportunity to thank her CNSM and COB family for this achievement.
