My Sister's Keeper
CHER was selected by the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (LBDHHS) to serve as the evaluator for the 3-year, My Sister’s Keeper (MSK), a program funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime (DOJ/OVC) to assist survivors of human trafficking through wraparound services, including, but not limited to, trauma-informed counseling, empowerment workshops, and job skills development. Participants also receive referrals for legal services, housing, and tattoo removal, if needed.
As the evaluation team, CHER collects quantitative and qualitative data to examine the program’s impact on mental health, job-seeking skills, and ability to deal with everyday problems. Specific evaluation activities included:
- Pre- and post-surveys
- Individual interviews with program participants
- Attendance at partner meetings to document successes and challenges of program implementation
- Review of partner reports to glean process level data
