CHER welcomed three new interns this summer: Asha Moor, Jorge Navarro, and Stephanie Sumstine. In the coming months, they will assist faculty and staff with literature reviews, data collection and entry, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and proposal and manuscript development.
Asha will graduate from CSULB in Fall 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. She plans to continue her education by pursuing a Master in Public Health degree. Asha has always been interested in health and wellness with a special focus on women’s health, sexual health awareness, and improving health disparities affecting the African American community.
Jorge is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education and expects to graduate from CSULB in Spring 2017. His professional goal is to work with underserved communities as a public health physician and improve the overall health of the these populations.
Stephanie is a graduate student in the Master of Public Health program at CSULB. She is on the executive board for the Health Science Graduate Association (HSGA) as the Public Relations officer, and she is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). She is interested in improving the well-being of underserved populations through prevention research and has a profound interest in working with HIV prevention and risk reduction.
