CHER and My Sister's Keeper Key Part of Panel with Community and Government Leaders

On August 2, 2022, CHER Director of Community Engagement & Evaluation, Dr. Parichart Sabado, was invited to take part in a panel presentation to discuss the evaluation of My Sister’s Keeper, a wraparound program funded by the Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime and led by the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (LBDHHS) to serve human trafficking survivors.

The panel presentation was part of a 4-day conference hosted by the City of Long Beach as part of its violence prevention work. A visiting delegation of 25-30 representatives from three Guatemalan municipalities attended the conference to learn about the city’s various violence prevention, crime-deterring, and data-informed programs and initiatives.

Dr. Sabado was joined by Mary White, Executive Director of Gems Uncovered, and Marish Sewe, MSK Peer Mentor to discuss successes and challenges of service delivery, and how data from the evaluation can be used to inform current and future efforts. CHER has a long-standing partnership with LBDHHS and has served as the evaluation team for MSK since 2015.
