CHER has been selected to lead a year-long evaluation of Long Beach Gang Reduction, Intervention and Prevention (LB GRIP), a project funded by the state’s CalGRIP grant that aims to provide mentorship and leadership development to at-risk youth in North Long Beach, CA. In alliance with its vision of, “a community where youth are highly valued, well educated, and skilled for the 21st century workplace, healthy, law abiding, and contributing members of society who respect the rights of others and themselves,” LB GRIP, in collaboration with its partner agencies, provides wraparound services designed to help youth participants develop educational, social, and life skills.
CHER is using a mixed methods approach to assess the impact of LB GRIP on youth development. Evaluation activities include surveys and in-depth interviews with LB GRIP youth participants and service providers. CHER staff is currently developing data collection instruments and will begin administration in the summer.
