CDC Health Leader Study

This CDC-funded study evaluated the impact of monetary incentives versus other types of support and recognition on the retention, productivity and satisfaction of volunteer community health leaders. The feedback from 26 Health Leaders in Long Beach who received monetary and non-monetary incentives was compared with 26 Health Leaders from another community who were not given monetary incentives. Both groups of Health Leaders reported high levels of satisfaction throughout their participation in the study, but the Long Beach Health Leaders were more productive when they received money.
