A Call for Critical Justice Fellows
The Critical Justice Committee (CJC) in the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Emergency Management was created in the wake of the killing of George Floyd and the subsequent unrest that occurred during 2020. Our primary goal is to promote learning opportunities and public discourse on topics pertinent to criminology and criminal justice, including but not limited to, racism, use of force, and theories and practices that perpetuate and challenge oppressive hierarchies. In order to meet this goal, the CJC relies on critical approaches to the study of criminology and criminal justice. The CJC provides guidance on the prevalent and damaging consequences of white supremacy and highlights critical justice issues for CCJEM faculty.
As part of our efforts, the CJC is currently accepting applications for the Critical Justice Fellowship. For the Fall 2022 – Spring 2023, we seek 1-2 Fellows to assist the CJC and its member faculty to promote and execute the goals of the CJC.
