We Care:  How Books Set the Tone, Make a Difference
by
Sylvia P. Maxson, California State University, Long Beach, CA

Description
"Caring about ourselves, our family, and our community."  Through literature, children can experience issues that evoke a caring nature and response.  Stories lend themselves to questions, conversations, and resulting action.  Allowing teachers and parents a venue for rich and responsive conversation is possible through literature.
