PRESIDENT'S AWARDS
Nominations are open for the President’s Awards
for Staff Employees of the Year and Team Achievement
The campus community may submit specific, comprehensive nominations for these Awards, based on contributions made during the 2023 calendar year. Nominations will be combined with eligible Best of the Beach nominations already submitted from January through December of 2023. The combined pool of nominations will be reviewed to select the President’s Awards for Staff Employees of the Year and Team Achievement.
Nomination Submission Deadline: Friday, March 1, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Nominations received after this time will not be considered.
Once determined and announced, all awardees are recognized at the annual Staff Service Awards and Recognition ceremony, on Tuesday, June 11 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
The President’s Awards for Staff Employees of the Year and the Team Achievement Award provide the opportunity for employees to be recognized for outstanding service and significant contributions to the campus community in the five categories:
The Student Success Award recognizes an employee who had made a significant contribution in support of CSULB’s core mission of providing excellent, highly-valued educational opportunities. The employee aligned actions and decisions with the University's core value of educational opportunity.

The Inclusive Excellence Award recognizes an employee who had made a significant contribution in fostering an inclusive culture of respect, collegiality, and civility. The employee aligned actions and decisions with the University’s core value of diversity.

The Leadership Award recognizes an employee who had made a significant contribution in providing quality leadership in the delivery of services to the campus community, such as students, faculty, or staff. The employee aligned actions and decisions with the University's core values of excellence, integrity, and service.

The Innovation Award recognizes an employee who had made a significant contribution in providing innovation in the delivery of services to the campus community, such as students, faculty, or staff. The employee aligned actions and decisions with the University's core values of excellence, integrity, service, creativity and innovation.

The Team Achievement Award recognizes a team of staff members who collaborated on a project, process, or other significant initiative to achieve distinctive results/solutions which positively impacted University operations, improve productivity, and/or reduce costs, and benefited a major sector of the University. The team aligned actions and decisions with the University's core values of excellence, integrity, service, creativity, innovation and educational opportunity.

Employees of the Year Eligibility:
State-side staff employees only, MPP submissions will be removed from consideration for Employees of the Year. Student assistants and faculty are not eligible. Specific nominations based on nominee contributions made the prior calendar year will be combined with eligible Best of the Beach nominations already submitted during the prior calendar year, at which time the combined pool of nominations will be reviewed to select the President’s Awards for Staff Employees of the Year.
Team Achievement Award Eligibility:
State-side staff employees only, including MPPs. If a student assistant has a significant role as a part of this team, they may be considered. Faculty are not eligible. Teams should consist of a minimum of three individuals. Work groups, departmental units, or cross-functional teams/groupings are eligible.
Every Spring, the campus will be asked to submit specific nominations for the President’s Awards for Staff Employees of the Year and for the Team Achievement Awards, based on contributions made the prior calendar year. Staff Employee of the Year nominations will be combined with eligible Best of the Beach nominations already submitted during the prior calendar year, at which time the combined pool of nominations will be reviewed to select the President’s Awards for Staff Employees of the Year. Once determined and announced, all awardees are recognized at the annual Staff Service Awards and Recognition Ceremony.
