Marina Crawford - College of Engineering - First-Year Experience Coordinator

Marina Crawford is the First-Year Experience Coordinator for the College of Engineering (COE). She oversees the COE Veterans/Active Military Students community. In this capacity, she hires and oversees 6-10 student assistants, called Veteran Ambassadors.

“In her role as First Year Experience Coordinator, Ms. Crawford stepped into a position new for the college. She took the initiative needed to develop a plan for outreach to new freshmen and Transfers and has become an expert in the many responsibilities of this position.”

“Marina provides oversight for the orientation and welcome events of the college. She visits every ENGR 101 class section welcoming COE’s new Engineering students to the college and introducing them to the support services and engagement opportunities available to them.”

Marina is described as, “An exemplary employee who puts forth exceptional effort in all of her numerous and varied responsibilities for the Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC).”

Additionally, Marina contributes to a number important COE programs and initiatives. Marina has supported the efforts of the ESSC throughout the year by organizing STEMx, Sisters in Motion, Almost Alumni, EXCEL Peer Mentor, and HSI-STEM Transfer events. She has been actively involved in supporting COE student organizations including, the Society of Women Engineers (SE), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Theta Tau, ACM, and Women in Computing (WiC).
