Employee of the Month - June 2024

Jasmine Puck, Program Coordinator
Student Center for Professional Development
College of Business

Awarded Tuesday, June 4, 2024, via Zoom Virtual celebration. Jasmine was joined by President Jane Close Conoley, numerous College of Business and campus colleagues, husband Torrey Puck, and her in-laws, Margaret Higashida and Larry Puck.

Jasmine Puck currently works as the Student Center for Professional Development (SCPD) Program Coordinator where she supports Mentorship programs and Professional Development Workshops for the College of Business (COB). She loves being able to connect students to professional Alumni and college partners to help jump start student careers. From creating fun social media post to finding new ways to outreach students, Jasmine is always willing to try new things to help students reach their student success goal.

Shayleen Fay, the Head of the COB SCPD shared that Jasmine “is a recent addition to our team in the COB SCPD office and has wasted no time in making a significant impact. Since joining us, she has demonstrated an impressive blend of creativity, resourcefulness, and dedication. One of her standout achievements has been the transformation to our social media presence. Her vision to make things fun yet informative and to include more people within our posts have led to an immediate surge in engagement, enhancing our outreach and inclusion with students and connecting us more deeply with the CSULB community in whole.

“She is always aiming to make a difference, which was exemplified with her initiative to organize a Headshot Photo Studio event. Utilizing her personal supplies and expertise, Jasmine provided students with an invaluable opportunity to update their LinkedIn photos prior to the CSULB job fair. This effort not only showcased her dedication to student success but also underscored her understanding to them needing to have a professional photo to generate a positive first impression online.

“Jasmine has also been instrumental in implementing a Canvas page for the SCPD, which was designed to streamline processes and improve communication. In showcasing the platform to others, it led to faculty department chairs approval to launch the same concept for the COB. Her ability to drive positive change and innovation is something I admire. She has demonstrated her passion and a proactive approach. I have every confidence in her ability to continue making significant contributions, and I feel so lucky to have her a part of my team. I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next.”

In December 2023, George Parker, the former Assistant Director of the Men’s Success Initiative, shared a glowing anecdote about Jasmine. He said, “In her role as a Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) coordinator, she has used her event planning talents in creating an effective Canvas system used by over 1,500 students moving the previous system from a heavy paper format to an easily accessible electronic system. She is a knowledgeable source in other aspects of FSL including supporting events, personal student issues, working on soft skills, and professional development for students.

“Furthermore, I would like to highlight Jasmine's collaborative contributions to the Men's Success Initiative at CSULB. Her tireless efforts have significantly contributed to the growth and success of this important initiative, which plays a crucial role in supporting male students on their academic journey. By actively participating in and promoting the Men's Success Initiative, Jasmine has demonstrated her commitment to creating a campus environment that encourages the success and well-being of all students.

Jasmine is a CSULB Alumni with a B.S. in Hospitality Management and went on to get her master’s in education with a concentration in Higher Education. She was an involved student leader and credits her career in Higher Education to the many advisors and staff that supported her. Without the tireless work of staff, she would not have been able to be the first in her family to graduate college.

Jasmine would like to thank her team, Director Shayleen Fay and COB Internship Coordinator Lindsey Sarver for their support and willingness to go with all her “crazy” ideas. She would also like to thank the COB for welcoming her into their family and to Student Life and Development for giving her the opportunity to give back to the CSULB community that gave so much to her.
