Awarded Wednesday, February 12 via Zoom celebration. Emily was joined by President Jane Close Conoley, Executive Director of Athletics Bobby Smitheran, and numerous Athletics colleagues.
It’s clear that CSULB is lucky to have recruited Emily DeMots into her role as director of compliance, having previously worked at San Diego State University in a similar role. In her short tenure of seven months on campus, Emily has made “remarkable contributions to enhancing and streamlining one of our key processes for signing prospective student-athletes.”
Tiffany Edlin, Senior Associate Athletic Director shared, “Emily leveraged her network within the industry to benchmark our approach against what other institutions were doing, ensuring that our process not only aligned with best practices but also maintained our competitive edge.”
“She collaborated effectively with our vendor to implement a technological solution tailored to our needs, demonstrating her resourcefulness and commitment to efficiency. Her initiative removed administrative stress, allowing others to trust her capabilities fully. Emily effectively communicated expectations to our coaching staff, providing clarity and fostering confidence in the new system.
“Furthermore, she went the extra mile by proactively reaching out to prospective student-athletes to explain what they would receive, which significantly contributed to a smoother experience for all parties involved.
“Emily’s dedication, professionalism, and ability to find innovative solutions have not only improved this process but have also set a new standard for excellence in our department operations. Her work reflects a level of care and expertise that truly deserves recognition.”
Emily was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She says she’s a “huge fan of women's sports” and when she’s not working, she “enjoys exploring nature and local restaurants.”
She graduated from University of Portland with a BBA in Finance while competing in D1 indoor and beach volleyball. She also earned her MBA from Saint Mary's College of California while working as the director of volleyball operations.
