Awarded Tuesday, August 19 at Friendship Walk and via Zoom virtual celebration. Hieu was joined by President Jane Close Conoley, Vice President and Chief Information Officer Min Yao and numerous campus colleagues.
This month’s Employee of the Month is Hieu Vu, Wireless Network Engineer. With 12 years of dedicated service at CSULB Hieu has been instrumental in keeping our campus community connected.
Lily Keo, Senior Technology Helpdesk Analyst praised Hugh for “his outstanding service and consistent support of the Technology Help Desk and campus community.
“At the start of each semester (and throughout it), Hieu plays a key role in ensuring smooth Wi-Fi access for students, staff, and faculty. His efforts to improve the Wi-Fi (Eduroam) onboarding process have made it easier and more reliable for everyone. Hieu’s proactive, often addressing issues before they’re reported, which helps reduce stress and downtime.
“What stands out most about Hieu is his approachability and reliability. Hieu’s always reachable, responsive, and ready to help, checking in with our team and offering thoughtful ideas to improve operations. His calm, solutions-oriented approach makes a big difference.
“Hieu embodies CSULB’s values of service, collaboration, and innovation. Hieu’s a trusted partner and an essential part of our campus support network.”p>
Reflecting on his journey, Hieu shared: “I’ve been incredibly fortunate to grow into my role as a Wireless Network Engineer here at CSULB. This opportunity has allowed me to contribute to the campus community by supporting mission-critical technology that enhances connectivity and the overall student experience.
“I currently hold a Cisco Certified Network Associate certification and am actively working toward additional network engineering certifications to further deepen my knowledge and improve the support I provide.
“I’d also like to take a moment to recognize my amazing team and colleagues. Their dedication, collaboration, and commitment to student success have been a constant source of inspiration—and a major reason why I’m here today.”
Outside of work, Hieu enjoys exploring DIY tech projects, traveling, and spending quality time with his dog, Henny.
